Many Chinese Researchers are not paid as well in China as they might be in other nations, even when they are highly published and are at the top of their fields. One researcher in China mentioned recently; "This is the reason why I do not want to work in a university as a researcher, because research brings me nothing besides the papers I published."
Whereas, this may be true in some cases, a top researcher with talent, creative genius, and ideas is worth so much and eventually, they will move up in the world based on their ability to produce new concepts and innovations. When I discussed this with Guang Wu, a Chinese Cultural writer and somewhat of a futurist living in China, he indicated that this was indeed a challenge for many of the academics in his country.
Wu, has just finished a new book; "China: Has the Last Opportunity Passed by!?" and he has stated that China is at a cross-roads and has many challenges ahead that must be overcome if that great nation is to ever become a World Super Power like the United States. Most Chinese researchers are extremely dedicated and even though they do not make a lot of money, they are willing to do that important work for the betterment of all Chinese and the future of China.
This is of course the right attitude and it is great to see so many dedicated individuals there working in the sciences, not only for the potential monetary rewards, but also for the future of humankind. Please consider all this.
